Development of the new logo

Studio 109 is Middlesbrough's newest creative co-working space. The space is the converted, 100 year old Parish Hall of the nearby St. John's Church and fabricated with Dorman Long steel, the foundation of many iconic buildings built in Teesside. The client was looking for an agency that could create an adaptive brand that would reflect the values they wanted to convey to tenants and visitors, that of a warm, friendly, down-to-earth space. The building offers tenants an alternative to over priced, clinical looking office buildings and a vibrant, community space to develop mutually beneficial collaborations.

A nod to Studio 54

In the design of the new branding the client was looking for a reference to the famous 70s New York club Studio 54, our logo development explored multiple permutations with the resulting logo shown here. A sophisticated colour palette was defined and once the client was happy we then designed a range of branded products and stationery including the building signage.

Explorations and logo ideas

We undertook a thorough branding Project Discovery process and explored a wide range of initial ideas. A great degree of experimentation ensured we supplied the client with a wealth of options which were narrowed down resulting in the chosen logo shown here.

Design and development of the new website

Extensive wireframes were created to help shape the structure of the new Studio 109 website. Utilising the defined colour palette from the branding process, the new colour scheme was applied into the various style elements of the website pages.

Creation of branded materials for the new business

Once the branding development had been confirmed we also designed a wide ange of marketing materials to help raise the profile of the building. A wallpaper pattern was created to help with ongoing promotion and a suite of bespoke icons designed to reflect the various internal tenants and businesses that inhabited Studio 109.

Building signage was also created, printed and fitted by ourselves to establish a visual presence for the building and what it was about.

Inside Studio 109

The branding helped establish a look and feel for the building interior that has developed into a vibrant, unique and hidden gem of a creative space in the heart of Middlesbrough.
