How we designed, built and launched an exclusive new event directory website

Plan My Function was a new business looking to establish themselves in the UK as a major player in the event management sector. They commissioned us to design a dynamic new website directory that their staff could use to attract a wide range of businesses with the sole aim to become the UKs goto destination site for event planning and supplier sourcing. The client asked for a solution that could allow for active listings to be displayed with category filters and a wishlist for customers to select their favourite suppliers. 

The system also had to allow for custom bookings for the suppliers to see bookings within a separate backend area and a bespoke subscriptions facility to cater for various packages including all relevant payment integrations.

Creating an enhanced backend system with multiple features

Some of the additional features that the website needed to have included an expanded wishlist to mark items as enquired, booked and deleted. A preview facility to show suppliers what their listing looked like to encourage signups and integrated social media feeds. We also built an on-site review feature for the various supplier pages.

Defining the graphic assets for the website

With a range of repeated page elements it was essential that we created a suite of graphic assets and icons that were to be used throughout the web build. Ensuring these assets were on brand and fit in with the overall design style of the website was crucial to convey a professional tone throughout each page.

The directory website included a wide range of pages many offering different tasks and features. Ensuring the CMS was dynamic enough to allow the client to manage new customer signups and also see and navigate through the payment structure was equally as important with the new build.

Social media graphics to promote the client's brand

We also created a suite of branded social media graphics to help the client with regular on brand posts to promote their various services and links into the new website.

The system also had to work engagingly on mobile so an enhanced Project Discovery phase was applied with a thorough user experience design process employed at the design stage.
