Designing a seamless e-commerce experience for Eco-Chippings

We began the Eco-Chippings website project with a clear goal: to create a seamless, user-friendly e-commerce platform that reflected the company’s commitment to sustainability and quality. 

As part of the project, we also refreshed Eco-Chippings’ branding to better reflect their values and position in the sustainable landscaping market. The updated visual identity focuses on a cleaner, more contemporary aesthetic that communicates clarity, trust, and eco-consciousness. We refined the colour palette, typography, and overall design language to create a cohesive brand presence that feels both modern and approachable. This visual refresh extends across the website and digital assets, ensuring a consistent and professional look that resonates with their target audience and reinforces Eco-Chippings’ commitment to quality and sustainability.

Through our structured Project Discovery phase, we mapped out user behaviours and defined key content pathways to ensure effortless navigation. Wireframes were carefully developed to prioritise product visibility, simple search functionality, and a clean, modern aesthetic. By integrating early-stage content and stakeholder feedback, we ensured the site not only looked great but also functioned intuitively—making it easy for customers across the UK to explore, choose, and purchase eco-friendly landscaping materials with confidence.

A custom volume calculator feature allowing for the customer to define what areas they wanted covering was also designed and integrated into the website.

An optimised responsive design process

Ensuring a consistent and intuitive experience across all devices was a key priority throughout the Eco-Chippings web design process. We applied a refined responsive design approach, carefully crafting layouts and components that adapt seamlessly to a range of screen sizes—from mobile phones and tablets to desktop monitors. This mobile-first mindset not only improves accessibility and usability for all users, but also aligns with current e-commerce best practices, where a significant portion of traffic originates from mobile devices. Every element—from product listings to navigation menus—was optimised to maintain clarity, speed, and ease of use, regardless of how or where the site is accessed. The result is a fast, flexible, and visually engaging platform that supports Eco-Chippings’ growth and enhances the online shopping experience for their customers across the UK.
